A prayer for more faith is for wherever we are at on our spiritual journey, and we can pray for ourselves and others to have more faith.
The Bible has a lot to say about faith; what faith is (Hebrews 11:1), where faith comes from (Romans 10:17), and what the power of faith is (Mark 11:22-24, Matthew 21:22).
In Hebrews 11, we read that our faith pleases God, and that he rewards those who seek him.
Proverbs 28:20 tells us the faith brings blessings, and in Matthew 25:21, Jesus tells us that being faithful with a few things can lead to stewardship over much more.
When we are feeling like our faith is weak, it can be hard to know how to grow our faith. Even when it feels stronger, we can always pray for faith to grow; giving our hopes and dreams to Jesus.
Here is a prayer for more faith, first shared on Lectio 365’s morning prayers on 26th May 2025:
God I trust that your word is true and that you are at work in my life, even when I can’t see it. I name my questions, my hopes and my dreams before you today, and I thank you in advance for the way you will make the invisible visible, demonstrating your faithfulness. And Lord, even if I’m not able to summon any faith today, I pray, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”
As well as praying for ourselves, we can also pray that those around us. Use this prayer for more faith for someone you know, whether a Christian or not.
Lord, I pray for someone I know who is facing what appears to be an unsolvable problem. Increase the measure of their faith and demonstrate your faithfulness to them today.
