Make Space for God This Advent with Lectio 365

1 December, 2025

Advent is a season of waiting, longing, and hope; a time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. But in the busyness of life, it’s easy to lose sight of what really matters. This year, make space for God in the waiting with Lectio 365, a free daily devotional app designed to help you pause, reflect on Scripture, and pray.

Why Advent matters

Advent isn’t just about counting down to Christmas Day. It’s about slowing down, reflecting, and rediscovering the promise of God with us. In a world that moves fast, this season invites us to pause and prepare our hearts for Jesus.

If you’ve ever felt caught in a loop of holiday stress, Advent is your opportunity to step back and embrace the waiting that define this season.

Lectio 365 this Advent: creativity that prepares our hearts

This Advent, we’ll prepare to celebrate the coming of Christ through two expressions of creativity:

1. The Prologue to John’s Gospel
Perhaps the greatest poetic introduction to Jesus, John’s opening words reveal Him as “the Word made flesh” – God with us. These verses invite us to marvel at the mystery of Christ’s incarnation and reflect deeply on His eternal presence.

2. The Great O Antiphons
These ancient songs, traditionally sung in the days leading up to Christmas, meditate on the names and character of Jesus. Each ‘Antiphon’ calls us to consider who Christ is, and to long for His coming again.

Through these timeless works of Scripture and song, we’ll prepare our hearts to celebrate Christ’s birth in Bethlehem, welcome His presence today, and cry out for His return once more.
